What is Tubi: Free Movies & Live TV?

Tubi: Free Movies & Live TV is an entertainment app for Android from developer Tubi TV. It gives people access to movies, television series, and live programming without a subscription fee.

The app is free to download and use. Its revenue comes from advertising, so viewers should expect commercial breaks during playback.

How does Tubi work on Android?

After installing the app from Google Play, you can browse by genre or search for a specific title. Content is organized into rows and categories, which makes it easy to scroll through a large library without a plan.

Live channels are available alongside on-demand titles, so the app works both for choosing a film and for tuning in to a broadcast as it airs.

What's new in the latest version?

The latest update, dated October 19, 2026, gives the app a redesigned visual style. The developer describes it as a refresh rather than a change to what the service offers.

The core catalog stays the same, including the wide movie and show library, the platform's own original series, live news and sports, and a kids area with classic and family-friendly titles.

Is Tubi free, and does it have ads or in-app purchases?

Tubi is free to install and use. There are no in-app purchases in the app, but it does contain advertisements, which appear during streams.

If you dislike interruptions, know that ads are the trade-off for a no-cost service. The app itself does not sell paid upgrades.

Pros and cons

On the plus side, the app costs nothing, has a very large library, offers live TV in the same place, and carries a strong 4.9 rating from more than 2.6 million Google Play reviews.

On the downside, advertising is unavoidable, the catalog of any given title can change over time, and the experience depends on a stable internet connection because streaming needs data or Wi-Fi.

Who is Tubi best suited for?

Tubi suits people who want a lot of content for no monthly cost and don't mind ads. It is a good fit for film fans who enjoy older and independent titles, families who want a kids section, and viewers who like having live news or sports alongside on-demand shows.

People who want ad-free viewing or a guaranteed set of brand-new releases may prefer a paid subscription service instead.
