WEBTOON: Manga, Comics, Manhwa

What is WEBTOON: Manga, Comics, Manhwa?

WEBTOON: Manga, Comics, Manhwa is a comics reading app for Android developed by NAVER WEBTOON. It gathers a large library of webtoons, which are comics designed to be read vertically on a phone, along with manga and manhwa titles.

With more than 193 million installs on Google Play, it is one of the more widely downloaded comics apps on the platform.

How does the WEBTOON app work?

After installing the app from Google Play, readers can browse series by genre, popularity, or update schedule, then open a title and scroll through its episodes.

Many series are released on a regular weekly schedule, so readers can follow stories as new episodes arrive. The app also works as a personal library where readers can keep track of the series they follow.

What's new in version 26.101.0?

Version 26.101.0 is a maintenance update. The developer describes it as minor bug fixes, so no major new features are announced for this release.

The app was last updated on 2026-10-16.

Is WEBTOON free, and does it have ads or in-app purchases?

The app is free to download. It contains ads, and it also offers in-app purchases, so readers should expect both advertising and optional paid items.

Ads and purchases are not required to install the app, but they are part of how it is funded.

Android requirements and download size

The app requires Android 9 or later. Devices running older versions of Android may not be able to install it from Google Play.

Check the storage listing on Google Play for the current download size, since it can change between releases.

Pros and cons of WEBTOON

On the plus side, the app is free, has a very large library, has a high Google Play rating of 4.6 out of 5 from more than 4.6 million ratings, and is easy to browse on a phone.

On the downside, ads appear within the app, in-app purchases are available, and the app needs Android 9 or later. Readers who dislike ads or prefer to avoid spending money may find the experience less appealing.

Who is WEBTOON best suited for?

The app suits readers who enjoy vertical-scrolling comics and want a single place to read webtoons, manga, and manhwa on an Android phone. It is a good fit for people who do not mind ads in exchange for free access.

Readers who want an ad-free reading experience with no purchases may want to look at the purchase and ad options in the app before committing.
