What is onX Hunt: Offline Hunting Maps?
onX Hunt: Offline Hunting Maps is a mapping app for hunters, listed in the Sports category on Google Play. It is published by onXmaps and is aimed at people who plan outdoor trips on foot, in a vehicle, or from a stand.
The app centers on maps. Users look at terrain and boundaries on a map screen and use that information to prepare for a hunt before they head into the field.
How does the offline map feature work?
The main reason many people look at this app is its offline use. Maps are meant to remain usable where mobile coverage is weak or missing, which is common in backcountry areas.
Because signal can drop in remote terrain, it helps to download the map areas you need before leaving home. Check the app's own settings for how downloads are managed on your device.
Is onX Hunt: Offline Hunting Maps free?
The app is free to download from Google Play. It does not show ads, but it does include in-app purchases, so some extra content or features may cost money.
Read the in-app purchase options before you buy so you know what the paid items include.
What do you need to run the app?
The app requires Android 8.0 or later. Devices older than that version are not supported by the current release.
The listing shows more than 9,214,039 installs and a 4.5 out of 5 rating from 65,333 ratings. The most recent update is dated 2026-10-23. Check the Google Play page for the current download size, which can change with each update.
Pros and cons
On the plus side, the app is free to start, has no ads, and is designed to work with offline maps. Its large install base and solid rating suggest it has many regular users.
On the downside, in-app purchases are available, and offline maps take storage space and must be downloaded ahead of time. Some features may depend on the device and on what you download.
Who is onX Hunt: Offline Hunting Maps best for?
The app suits hunters who spend time in areas without reliable signal and want maps on their phone. It is also useful for people who plan routes and boundaries at home before a trip.
Casual users who only need a quick map in town may find a general navigation app more convenient.
