Flightradar24 Flight Tracker

What is Flightradar24 Flight Tracker?

Flightradar24 Flight Tracker is a travel app from Flightradar24 AB that displays flights on an interactive map. Users can follow commercial airliners and other aircraft as they move across the world, which makes it useful for anyone curious about what is overhead or waiting for a plane to land.

The app has been installed more than 121 million times on Google Play, where it holds a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from about 659,000 ratings.

How does Flightradar24 Flight Tracker work?

The map shows aircraft as icons that move in near real time. Tapping an icon opens details such as the flight number, route, and aircraft type, where that information is available.

You can search by flight number, airline, airport, or registration to find a specific aircraft. Filters and map layers help narrow down what is shown, so busy areas near major airports are easier to read.

Is Flightradar24 Flight Tracker free to use?

The app itself is free to download from Google Play. It does, however, display ads, and it offers in-app purchases for optional extras. Users who want an ad-free experience or additional features should check the subscription and purchase options inside the app before buying.

Because purchases are optional, the free version is usable for casual tracking, but frequent users may find the ads or upgrade prompts noticeable.

What's new in the latest version?

The most recent update, dated 22 October 2026, focuses on stability. The developer describes it as a set of bug fixes and performance improvements, with no major new features called out in the release notes.

Keeping the app updated is still worthwhile, since fixes like these can make the map smoother and reduce crashes on some devices.

Android requirements, size, and downloads

Flightradar24 Flight Tracker is installed through Google Play, and the store page lists the device requirements for your phone or tablet. Check there before installing, since minimum Android versions and storage needs can change between updates.

Exact download size varies by device and version, so the store listing is the most reliable source for current figures. Running live maps and frequent data updates can use a noticeable amount of mobile data and battery.

Pros and cons

On the plus side, the app offers a wide view of live air traffic, a large user base, and a strong store rating. It is free to start with and suits both casual watchers and frequent travelers.

On the downside, ads appear in the free version, in-app purchases are offered, and live map use can drain battery and data. Flight data depends on coverage, so some aircraft or areas may not show up.

Who is Flightradar24 Flight Tracker for?

The app suits travelers checking whether a flight is on time, people picking up or dropping off passengers, plane spotters, and anyone who enjoys watching air traffic. It is a good fit for those who want a free, map-based tool without committing to a paid plan.

Users who need guaranteed, official flight status should still confirm details with their airline or airport.
